View Full Version : Hight FSB and hard drives
My Epox 8k7a will boot at a fsb up to 195 (390 DDR) even with the ram at 222 timing but my IBM GXP60 hard drive seems to bee keeping me from going any higher than 160. What hard drives are people using with such high FSB speeds? I thought the IBM would be able to handle it but I guess not. Any thoughts...:eh?:
My gxp 60 seems fine at 180 fsb 1/4 pci bus but I am running it as a secondary drive with a 75gxp as primary.
I have run sandra's drive benchmark on it without a problem and played games intalled on it at this speed without a problem.
I do have my drives connected to a promise tx-2 133 controller thats supposed to work with 33 and 66mhz pci bus boards so maybe that makes a difference.
You could try manually setting your drive to mode 2 in bios if your board lets you.

you can try varying your HDD's UDMA mode.. U can use IBM Fitness tool to do so... or on some mobo's BIOS....
