The 7900GTX, is that the same as a 8600GT?

what would be the equivalent?

The 8600GTS 512MB I would think should blow it away!?

Although the 7900GTX is not a DX10 card it will outperform the 8600GT by far...the GTX is a 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 and will compare to the 8800 GTS 320 or 8800 GT 256.

Edit : Are you referring to the 8600GT or the 8800 GT ?

OK, you got me confused with the GTS and GT mixed up, that card is pretty much on par with the 7900GTX, maybe a bit weaker in some areas...
I would not spend $180 on that card, rather spend a few buck extra an get this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150264
far better value for money
