I have the 169.04 drivers on my laptop that has a 8600m gt. I downloaded rivatuner but my overclock settings reset after I change them. How do I fix this?

I've found this guide very helpful:

That's what I use, too.

If you want RivaTuner to work with Vista UAC, check this (http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=226624) out!

It works(even on my 64 bit Vista)!

Thanks, but I went through the tutorial and my overclock settings still revert back to standard speeds when I click ok to accept them.

Also, since you are on a laptop be very cautious of temps. You will probably end up burning your legs if you overclock that card.

You went through that whole guide already? That was fast. You have to click on "Apply overclocking settings at startup" I believe.

Well my laptop gpu doesn't have a dedicated fan so I didn't have to do the fan part. Do I need to do the UAC registry edit to get this to work?

I didn't have to edit my registry as far as I know. You may have to but I can't be positive on that.

What laptop do you have? To be honest with you I cannot see the 8600m GT running passively. I have one myself and the fan spins about 50% just to keep it at 80 ~ 90C Load.

If only there was a program to control the fan...sigh.

I have a Macbook Pro. I'm running vista through bootcamp. I assume the gpu doesn't have a fan because rivatuner didn't give me fan editing options. The 169.xx drivers are overclockable aren't they? I've read that they are.
