View Full Version : "Floppy Disk Fail (40)" Why?
Every time I boot up my computer, I get this error. And when I try to acces a floppy in W2K it always want to format the disk. Why???
I have tried to turn the cable, but then the light in the floppy is on all the time...

Do you have an extra floppy (drive) you can try? Might be the disk as well.
yea i think its the cable is actually bad or the drive is bad, did this just all of a sudden happen, cause if u were into ur floppydrive prior u might have a bent pin on the end of the drive connector
Well if youve tried switching around the cable to the floppy. My first thought would be possible bad floppy drive... then bad cable.... Ive had alot of floppys go bad on me in the past year... just a thought

I had a session with that (40) message a couple weeks ago.
In my case it was a bad cable.

Yah, iv had bad cables before. Try a different one, should solve your problem.
Yep, you guy's was right. My old floppy is dead....
