Until yesterday, I was a die hard raptor fan, I've had a total of 6. Yesterday, #6 failed, the 2nd 150 gig to fail.
I mean it still works, but it takes IE 2-3 minutes to open sometimes. :(
Tried playing a movie on it, skipped every 2 seconds, then I put the same movie on my storage drive, played flawlessly.
SIGH. I hate rma's.
Oh, and I ordered 2 7200.11 32mb 500's for my new primary, finally. ^^ :santa:
I have read a lot more issues with the 150's than the 74 or even the 36 versions.
Its a real shame :(

My data is important, I can't afford to have drives failing on a whim like this.
Hopefully my jump to seagate will be a wise choice.
I have two Raptor 74's and they have never given me problems yet.
Are you planning to raid 0 the Seagate's? Probably shouldnt if your data is that important.

Matrix array actually.
I plan on raid 0 for a few benches, I told a few people on here I would get some solid benches up compared to all the ones up of raptors.
But yeah, once I get done benching and do my final install It's matrix all the way.
I own 3 older 36GB (one is a 74GB model now as they upgraded for me) Raptors. All were bought October of '05 and all have been replaced. Once has been replaced twice.
I like their speed and all, but I no longer put them in a system I depend on. They're all OS drives now...OS drives in each of my HTPCs and the 74GB is the OS drive in my primary system. Everything I need is loaded on a 2TB server in RAID3...with Seagate drives :)
I had originally bought the Raptors to run in a 3-disk RAID0 array, but after rebuilding three times due to drive failures, I split them up and don't use RAID0 for my OS any longer.

that's where I am at this point.
Going to matrix the 2 seagates and forget about it. Solid perf. + data protection. Tired of worrying about weather or not my raptor is going to die next week or not.

Interesting.
I have two 36gig Raptors that I bought 5+ years ago.
They run perfect.
