View Full Version : Does having a better cable modem affect the outcome of the speed?
Let's say you were capped on a 40K/Upload and you were to get the top of the line modem would anything change I know for some that quality modem will change with the connection if you had a cheap modem your connection maybe unstable or so.

I have Optimum Online and the crowd over at dslreports.com OOL forum (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cable,opt~root=cable,opt~mode=shut;start=0) are convinced that the Terayon Terajet gives the best speed and performance. I have the Terajet, but it's the only cable modem I've ever had, so I couldn't tell you first hand whether or not it does affect the outcome of the speed. Maybe your cable service provider has a forum at dslreports.com and you can ask there which modem works best with your provider. Here is my latest speed test.
Your download speed : 6020728 bps, or 6020 kbps.
Your upload speed : 951173 bps, or 951 kbps.
No it wont make a dif if you are capped you will only get what they give you. This is not to say that a cheap modem would not prevent you from getting the full service but any brand name will get you the full speed you pay for.
Wish I had the TeraJet..
I have the Terayon TeraPro S-CDMA
