Here it is. Just extract all 5 files into 1 dir and enjoy. plz post/pm me for comments, suggestions...

*EDIT*: This program will work only on computers with installed Visual Studio, a Visual Basic program, or if he downloads the install version (see below for link)

Now who ever has VB or VB application installed just download the added file to this post, every one else click
here (www.pickleloaf.com/newwatt3.zip), Then u'll be able to download the file from there! Ploaf gave me the space on his server, so he gets the credits for the hosting

Please just download the file and don't delete it or something like that, it took us enough time to get the file there, thank you & enjoy

Update!!!! on the end of this post, look for the zip file. all u need to do is to unzip the five files into the directory u installed the program in, or u can use the link above and there is the same file to download from there.

01-20-2002: OK, this is the newest update (it has now the latest Tualatins also), so even if u downloaded the installation, u should download this file and replace the 1s u have installed in the dir of the NewWatt2

03-26-2002: Added the AthlonXP 2100+ to the AMD bunch.
PS: Go to the last post to get the zip file

07-01-2002: Added the T-Bred watt specs, Tualatin Celeron 1400, P4 Celerons 1700 and 1800, and P4 2266 and P4 2533

07-05-2002: I fixed some really stupid bugs that people from different regional settings were getting and some other bugs I noticed going around.

08-02-2002: I rebuilt the install file, now its the newest, all u gotta do is download and install... nothing else, for those who already have earlier version installed don't need to download, only if the want a "clean install" of that program.
PS. I also added CPU caches to the AMD part of the DB, I had no time to do it for Intel, if anyone has exact chart which specifies which CPUs had how much cache would be highly appriciated.

Nice little program! I think it looks better than Radiate. My athlon 1400@1705 (22% overvlock) is generating 144.95 watts of heat. My old duron 600@1200 (100% overclock!!!!!!!!!!) was cranking out a stagering 110.99 watts at 2.33v. Origionaly the duron was putting out only 23 watts so that is aproximately a 5x increase in heat production.

Hi guys, it seems very strange, the error means that the database wasn't found... did u rename or set files to read only?
Try downloading this program another time.

I'll try to figure the problem out today

The Coolest

I'm using Windows ME but I tested it on a machine running Win98 (not SE) and it worked fine... Are there people that it worked on their machines? Please post

*EDIT*: I'm at school right now, and I tried to download this program... It ran fine except a little error about something not found. But it worked... I know that u need several files, a VB support, maybe that is the problem you are having. If u know any one w/ Visual Basic or WinME installed try it there.

I found what this error is about. U need to install the program. the only problem is that the Setup is larger than 1MB so I can't upload it here. if any1 has or knows about free ftp server or something like it, pm me upload the setup there and post a link, that should solve the problem. Like I said before, you need Visual Basic files.

The Coolest

B U M P!

Any one has or knows of a sever or something I can upload the setup file to? its 3MB and after installation the program won't give this error and work properly. Please!!!! I have a dialup, and can't send it to anyone that wants it... it takes a lot of time...

Calculating heat is easy:

E(Watts) = I(Amps)x V(Volts) x t(seconds)

E=ItV.

All you need to find out is the current flowing through. You will know the voltage (about 1.6-1.85V)

The Coolest
12-28-01, 07:10 AM
In this program I used the W = specW * ((currentspeed / specspeed) * (currentVcore/specVcore)^2)

And you will have to search all the datasheets to get info for ur CPU, in my app (aplication) u just select ur CPU and enter new values...

David
12-29-01, 05:35 AM
ah! I see. Yours can work without needing to find the current - a lot easier for CPUs. I can just about see how your formula works.

it works fine for me.

I would suggest that you make the calculate button property of default set to true.

That way when someone hits enter they get the calc done if the text boxes are filled in.

The first few lines of the click event will need to test that the text boxes contain numbers (I would use IsNumeric)

thanks for the program.

01-16-02, 05:30 PM

I have visual studio.

Hey, thanks for the replies!
badgers>> I will do! & u should download the update, I added the XP 2000+ to the DB, and worked out a bug or 2 :D...
The default Vcore is 1.75, the mobo can put out more than the exact number

Ozzman
01-18-02, 12:28 AM
yeah ive heard the k7vza does that do u think it can do any harm??

The Coolest
01-18-02, 03:14 AM
Naa, the extra 0.05 Volts won't hurt ur CPU unless its overheating, then even on Vcore lower than defualt it will hurt.. nothing to worry about.

The Coolest
01-18-02, 12:53 PM
OK, the last update for now there is an improvement in the code, that makes it easier for me to add more CPUs to the list... so its recommended to download it now... so there will be now troubels in future, for the installation there is a link in the first post in this thread.

*EDIT*: Attachment removed, newest version is in first post.

badgers
01-18-02, 05:49 PM
still need to make the calc button the default so that an enter will start the calc.

are you using ADO or DAO?

The Coolest
01-19-02, 04:21 AM
I'm using the Data object that displayed when a New Project is started...
& what u mean make the calc button default? When does it become avail?

badgers
01-19-02, 11:24 AM
are you using VB?

if you are then it is easy.

In the IDE left click once on the command button.

now right click on the command button and select properties.

in the properties window that should come up on the right side there is a property called "default"

set this property to true.

because your text boxes are not multi line any time you hit enter the code behind the click event for that default button will be run.

in your click event you need to have some input verification.
example guessing at the names you used for text boxes.

If TxtNewSpeed.Text = "" then exit sub
and do this for the other box as well.

after you know that all the text boxes are filled in then use
this to make sure that you have numbers and
if it is NOT a Number then exit sub

if Not(IsNumeric(TxtNewSpeed.Text)) then exit sub

if you want you can send me the source and I can help you that way.

Guyz about Geocities, direct file d/l links wont work cause they dont allow hot linking, or turned if off. You have to d/led a file from an HTML or HTM document otherwise it will not work.
So you have to make a small page and then make a link to that file and wala...you have one of the only wayz to get a file from geocities.

hey guys, I see that many mroe got this app, I would like to see some responses to what could be improved/added, the version I posted a few days ago had a bug, if you wouldn't input the used vcore in the popup window, u'd get an Typemismatch error, I fixed it in the newer file, so if you don't want any bugs like these, please redownload

rogerdugans
07-03-02, 05:14 PM
Just tried it- I seem to have the good one;)

Now that I have the correct version of the app, i can find nothing with the usability/ features that I want added....

but it would be great if data for Intel cpus was available too (I know, this is in the AMD section but......:D )

!DOH! Should have looked through the options before I wrote that! Thought I'd leave it up so you could have a laugh

I do have one suggestion: editing the bad/old/incorrect version links out of the first posts!

It did take me a while to get the newest version of the program, and it is well worth the time....but confusing.

Thanks again

The Coolest
07-05-02, 05:48 AM
LOL, things like that happen :p
But for those who can't find it there's a menu button called View, click it, and you will have to choice which CPUs to look for, AMD or Intel.

I fixed a couple of bugs that would cause errors on some systems running different regional settings than USA and couple other bugs. I hope it works well for you, check it out

BUMP & bad news. the account at storage vault where I used to store the full installation files is now closed because it was free, and now I have to pay for it... So I'm looking for a different host right now, I asked Skip to let me use his server because its only upto 4MB worth of files. I will have to wait for his response on this and continue from there, if he agrees we'll have it up ASAP, if he won't I will try and seek out another source. plz check first post edit, hipro5 came up with something, try downloading it if it doesn't work for you, when u dled it from my first attachment.
