dig cam and drivers not working.

well i got a new dig cam for xmas (hp photosmart 215).
and it doesnt dl the pics i take on to the comp, even though the usb is enabled, i installed all the drivers and software.
and i know the usb works cause the scanner works fine on both of the plugins.
i have win 2000 with litestep(it shouldnt be a problem but i has caused trouble before.)

i did some checking around and it cant access the drivers for some reason, and its missing the inf file that should be in the c:\WINNT\INF
also how come there is no inf file in there yet when i try to create a new one it says there is already a folder with that name in this file.

Hey, congrats on the camera!

Did you use the drivers on the cd? If so, try their website for newer ones.

What is LiteStep?

Battery life( I saw your post on Xmas gifts): My camera is a Nikon Coolpix 800 which takes 4 AAs. When I use disposable batteries they go quick: I also have 3 sets of Lithium rechargeables that last almost twice as long. One hint: if you have an lcd screen and an optical viewfinder- try using the optical and turn the lcd off, it uses more juice than anything else in the camera!

If they are charging money for the drivers.. CALL THEM! That is unacceptable and you should be able to straighten them out.

And I use the lcd most of the time too: thats why I have 3 sets of rechargeables! Get some! And the Lithium ones are much better than the old nicads: may cost a bit more, but well worth it.

ROBB23----I have a HP 315 photosmart----My camera , drivers
is not compatible w/win2k....w/98 for me. I also have HP printer
with a card reader. If you can not get drivers for win/2k, you
can always get the printer. I know, that's not what you want to hear. Mine works great, I'm happy with it. Hope you can get
what you need from HP.

Are you using TweakUI?

I was, and I had disabled the "show F:", so when I enabled it, my USB uploader showed up! Now I can get the pics!

So make sure you have all the X: showing.

I have the HP 215 under XP, and my drivers worked just fine. However Jasc Paint Shop Pro doesn't wanna see the camera, so I have to upload the pics through the software it came with. I hate the bundled software so I'm going to get a CF reader. And some lithium rechargeables. The only negative thing i heard about the HP 215 is that is sucks batteries like a cheap *****. But I dig it thus far.
