I've noticed that when i create new raid drvie & do quick format..this new raid drive will perform as supposed to be. However, when i put in some data (very little space covered) and try benching, the performance drops like 40%...for example, i raid 2x320gb and got 140mb/s STR..after using the drive for like 2-3% of its space and do the benching again. I got 90-100mb/s only. what wrong with that?
I start wondering if there is something to do with how i set up raid.
I never use bios to setup raid. I remotely use matrix stroage manager in windows all the time. Would there be any differences between setting up raid in bios and in windows?
Also, I use Crytalmark for speed test and it gives me that performance drop. However, when using HD tach, the performance curve is still the same (no drop)
if i do quick format again, then Crystal mark give me 140mb/s again on this fresh drive.
