Swap the 1.4 with the 1800+?

Well, it doesn't look like I'll be able to afford a new mobo for a while. So, I've got my 1900+ in my epox, and my 1.4 in my iwill(piece of crap mobo). The 1900+ replaced my 1800+ which was supposed to go in a new 8kha+. Since I can't afford a new mobo for atleast a month or so, should I replace the 1.4 with the 1800?Will I see enough of a difference in times?
BTW the 1800+ is locked, and the 1.4 isn't;)

Have a look at the benchmark page it might offer a few ideas. You can find it Here (http://www.ocsetiteam.com/bench.htm) . You could always try doing the benchmark with your 1.4, you could then get a far better idea;)

I assume you're talking about a 1.4 tbird versus an XP. The XP core is a good bit faster clock for clock than the tbird when it comes to Seti. I'd definitely swap it out.

Thanks for the replies! I thought just as much, but honestly, I shouldn't have stated the iwill/tbird combo is doing all that bad;) I have been running it at 170x9, and just upped it to 171 to see if it would stay stable, and so far so good:D
I'll probably swap it out tonight, I just wonder what FSB I'll be able to hit with the 1800+? Things that make ya go hmmmmm. I'll let ya know;)

definitately XP instead of T-bird when coming to SETI!! no question!! even at slower speed!!

my T-bird 1.56 average 4.5hr/WU.

my XP 1.5 average 'bout 3.4-3.6hr/WU.

since i would think most air cooled XP will top out around low-mid 1.7G, i think 147-155FSB is more realistic.....consider ur XP1800+ has a 11.5multiplier...

I just swapped them, and went from a t'bird 1.4 171x9 to my xp1800+ 146x11.5. I haven't really screwed with the timings because I wanted to get it semi-stable for tonight. I guess I'll know pretty soon just how much of a gain I'll get ;)
I wish I could find someone else with this mobo (iwill ka266plus) I don't get loads of the BIOS stuff that would probably help me out. Thanks again for the input guys. I'm gonna update my sig:cool:

Many people seems to hate Iwill. I have owned 3 mobos from that manufacturer and they have been very sweet with me. Well, I must admit that I changed my first one (a VD133+ mobo) because I thought that it wasn't compatible with my vid card (then a Voodoo 3 3500).....it turned out that my Voodoo was a piece of crap.....well.....If you want a new BIOS update you can e-mail the support staff at Iwill, they are very very kind and if they can help you they could send it to you.

Besides, if you a good oc factory BIOS settings can be updated with another program, like WCPCEdit, f.e.
