That's pretty much it.. Is it worth taking off the cooler and replacing whatever is in there with AS5? Anyone done this and have pics? Never removed a VGA cooler before..

if there is ZERO airflow in your case, and the stock fan is the only thing you have moving AIR, then maybe - otherwise i doubt it's going to give you any better of any overclock. i would just tune the fan duty cycle up if your unhappy about temps or whatnot.

or get a Accelero S1 , for the price atm you cannot leave them in the store, go pic one up, I get 42c load on mine with a 120mm fan and clocks at 740/1728/990

If getting the temp down is your goal, replacing the stock cooler with an aftermarket unit is the best way to go. The AS5 will transfer heat to the heatsink better than some of the other compounds used OEM, but stock heatsinks suck, and that's the root of the problem.
I installed a Zalman VF-700cu on my Gigabyte 6800GT, and droped the load temp by almost 30 degrees!! The AS5 will get the heat to the heatsink, but the big concern is to get the heat out of the heatsink, and that is where surface area is important.
I'd replace the stock cooler, and use the AS5 when you install the new one.

I just asked cause I already have some AS5, so it'd be a freebie, just dunno if it's worth the time.
Thanks
