Questions about sound systems

Ok here is the deal: I m using either a headset when playing some online game or some crappy speakers to listen to music. Will I get any substantial sound candy if I buy an aftersale soundcard(like audigy or x-fi)? does EAX have any effect if I use a headset?

All in all I would also appreciate if you can give a price range for a full digital sound system(nothing fancy) I ve read the sticky but I m prolly slow :P

There is sound candy to be had. However to get it out of a pricey card, you need some speakers to match. The Creative extremeMusic is nice ($60). What speakers do you have now?

yeah the extrememusic is worth it.. im using a $20 speaker which i bought before and when i finally bought the extrememusic it sounds different(much better).. i used onboard sound before..
