This is probably a loaded question.
What is the quietest (if thats a word) pump, that can still handle high gpm?
I'm building a watercooling rig for it's noise properties not cooling. The pump will be outside the case in a different box. So the water lines will be long.
Thanks for any help.
Oh and if the pump costs more than $100 , thats fine.

Buy an eheim, stick it on a piece of foam, virtuall silent, good flow, reliable (2 year warranty).

I agree 100% on Eheim. I've been using their products(cannister filters) in my fish tanks for 6 years, no problems and totally silent.

Yah, enheim... earlier I had posted that petsmart carried these "topfin" pumps for cheap, but I just found out why they're cheap. I hooked up their "280GPH" pump and tested the output. Through my cooling system (1-12 pass radiator, 2 waterblocks) it is pumping in the area of 18(!?!?) GPH. To top it off, it's loud. Ugh. Oh well, it was only 20bux.
Ordering an Enheim tonight.

Actually, on that note, does anyone know where to get the best price on the Enheim line?
Danger Den has the 1048 at a competitive price. That's where I got mine from. Quiet and effective. I take all GPH claims, including Eheims with a grain of salt. All I know is it does the job for my situation.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm definetly going to get one of the eheim pumps.
I think I'm going to get a costum configured kit from danger den. Don't have the time as I used to to piece together a system.
One quiestion. What are the advantages or disatvantages with going with 1/2" tubbing over 3/8"?

1/2" tubing=less flow restriction, which is always good. If you're starting from scratch definately go with 1/2".
I have a quick question... Danger Den is out of Eheims until 1/4/02.. anyone know anywhere else to get them? (good price)
Pet Warehouse http://www.petwarehouse.com
has the 1048 for $45.23. That's a good price. Always go with a 1/2" system if you have the choice. Remember though, if any of the water components in the system is only 3/8", it negates the fact that the rest of the components are 1/2". The Eheim 1046 and 1048 have at least on port that is only 3/8", so you may as well go 3/8" throughout. Believe me, on my system, the fact that everything is 3/8" instead of 1/2" hasn't had a detrimental effect on the cooling effectiveness. I ordered a custom rig from D.D. including the 1048, maze-2, Radiator, 4oz. Water Wetter and nice silicon hose, all 3/8" fittings. One stop shopping. The only disappointment was it took 3 weeks to get the order. I really wanted to get one of those Spir@l Water Blocks, but the people selling them could not keep up with demand and I didn't fancy being # 50 in line for one.
Good Luck

Thanks for the ordering 411 man.
Edit:
Ugh, they're out of them too... expected arrival date 1/22. I found one place that had them locally, but they want $100 for the 1250. Grrr.....
