View Full Version : CAN 2 8800 USE THE SAME IRQ
Had a sli set up working great in xpp for 3 weeks no problems.
Put on Vista sli wont work.
Reinstalled xpp sli wont work.
Problem may be both cards are using same IRQ.
Havent had same IRQ PROBLEM SINCE WIN 3.1 OR 98.
Tried removing cards from control panal.
Dont think 8800 like sharring a irq
NEED SOMEONE WITH 2 CARDS TO SEE IF THEY BOTH USE THE SAME IRQ
Water cooling is tight fit hate to remove both cards.
First insall remoed gtx put in 2gt instant sli.
Next i will remove 1 card let it hang and reinstall.

I havnt heard of IRQ problems in a while... how do you know they are using the same IRQ, and im sure you can go into the bios and change them.
Bios auto or man.= pci 0r reserved
Put all on manuall pci no difference
Reserved 1 irq no difference
Before i put on drivers cards have seperate irq
After drivers both on same irq
Need to check bios 1 more time

Since modern operating systems can use virtual interrupt requests. Sharing one or two devices on one IRQ is not much of an issue like it used to be.
Under very rare cases. There might be an issue. The operating system should afford to correct it on the fly.
I think video likes 12-14 and sound used 15. After that is all virtual IRQs. It has been ages since I even worried about it. My X850XT Pe seemed to always use 16 which was not a real IRQ. Due to the Rage theater chip onboard. So sharing is not much of an issue.
Fastest agp i ever had was X800XTpe + opteron had tv cable in cool
Even coppied old vgr tapes with it.
Got a 88gtx nividas to cheap to give you video in no dvd support
After Enablingwolf post had more hope
Removed 1 card + sli bridge.
Reset defult sli setting from auto to alternate2 rendering.
Now sli comming alive again.
First drivers were only for gt s
Some drivers have poor support dont list supported cards
Thanks for the help.

Once you find out that steerable IRQ or ACPI works really good. You see that IRQ issues are thing of the past. Usually it is a driver issue causing problems in 99% of the cases.
A simple remove the device and then reinstall the driver usually fixes the majority of problems. How mature ACPI is now. You should not worry about IRQ's.
