Hello all ;)

my current rig is:

EVGA E-GEFORCE 8600GTS 675MHZ 256MB 2.0GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV Out DIRECTX10 Video Card

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R ATX LGA775 Conroe P35 DDR2 1PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 SATA RAID Sound GBLAN Motherboard

Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400 2GB 2X1GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 5-5-5-18 240PIN DIMM Dual Chan

Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive 3 Year MFR Warranty

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Retail Box

---

Now i love the ram that i got and i actually just recently bought more ram to up it to 4 gb of ram but im curious is it possible to make my timings tighter and keep it at 800mhz?

Im actually wondering if i can get it to 4-4-4-12 and keep it at 800 mhz in my rig, is this possible? and for those who know how, is it simply just going into my bios and setting the timings tighter? or do i also have to change the voltage?

again ram is:

Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400 2GB 2X1GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 5-5-5-18 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory

any specific details or links i can look at would be greatly appreciated :soda:

Yes have the same ram changed it in bios to 4-4-4-12

just change the timings and make sure you stress test it to make sure it wont let you down.

Decent RAM can usually do better than its rated for. My Ballistix stock is 800 with 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v, and at that same voltage Im running 900 with 4-4-4-6 :D

nice mobo btw

that ram is prolly use lower binned IC's and is following JDEC specs. i have a feeling your going be not so lucky to get tighter timings... could you read off the numbers on the sticker, there will also be a v1.1 or v2.1 on there as well..

run 2 instances of superpi 32m and also run a few hours of Memtest86.

the SPD tab shows what the ram is programed for when the timings is left at auto in the bios. the memory tab shows what your current timings and ram speed is, yes you have it set right.
