View Full Version : Upping 3dmark scores
Just ran the 2nd time, my score is 3241. Up from about 100 points from the 1st run I did. These numbers look very low.
I'm running a Radeon 7500 (retail) at default specs. I don't plan to OC until I replace the retail fan. What are the average scores for the 7500 (not OCed). What other tweaks can I get to get this thing running at full potential? Right now, I'll be installing directx 8.1. I think I've got the latest ATI drivers (5.13.1.3281). Anything else?
Nope, those scores are about right. I get 3900 with the setup in my signature.
Alright. Just ran another bench. Posted 3338. Almost 100 points up again. Looks like I can still get it to go higher.
Thanks

but thats the thing pinky, a 7500 should be crushing a DDR VIVO card.......Bonka, the best thing to do is to crank up the bus on that Celly......with a 100mhz bus it suffers badly from memory bandwith and when oced (obviously) will have more processing power, even if it will only go to 1.44(120) fsb that will be a great increase.....for example my PIII600 just died and i swapped in my dads Katmai 450 PIII and im now running it at 567mhz, with 800Mhz i get 3300 on average at with this cpu i get 2300 that 1000 points lost by 200+ mhz.....

It's basically a DDR Ultra since it runs on the old radeon platform (it's not a 8500 underclocked) at 290mhz core, 230mhz memory. However, I have my Radeon DDR running overclocked which puts the memory (the key bottleneck component on most video cards) at the 7500's level, and as you explained, with the additional mhz from overclocking my system CPU, get the difference in scores. I doubt he'll get much past 4,000 even with the suggestions, that card's a FPS machine, not a 3dmark buster ;).

i dunno Cisco Kids got 5100 outa his....and if Bonka ocs his right (these 7500s are supposed to be amzing ocers) he could have performance in between geforce2Ultra and ti200 yet closer to Ti200....but without DDR im guessing hell get 4300 if he tweaks and ocs the snot outta his system...
Cisco Kid's setup is a bit much to use as a comparison:
AMD 1.2 pc266 @1420 w fop sink & Delta 38
XP Pro OS
MSI K7T266 Pro Raid DDR
2x256 Crucial pc2100 DDR Ram
Maxtor 60 gig ata100 7200 rpm HD
Radeon 7500 (best oclock) 342/562
5024 3DMark2K1
That's an awesome overclock, I wouldn't consider anything over 300 on the core realistic.
Just to update, OCed my Celly to 1.44 (fsb@120). Radeon is still at default specs so I decided to run 3dmark again...
The results: 3819 :D

I like these numbers:burn: Looks like I can hit 4000+ once I get my comp running stable at 125fsb, still with default specs on the Radeon :D
Lots of headroom left! Now I know why OCing is soo addictive :p

Keep tweaking, try different drivers, the leaked beta that are for the 8500 work on the 7500, as I tested. Also the card will overclcok fine with stock heatsink to around 310/240 but if you can wait all the better.
The best driver I have found is the 1086 omega drivers
I have broke 5000pts with mine but that was with card overclocked
here is alink for omega drivers
http://www.omegacorner.com/
here are beta drivers for XP
http://www.3dchipset.com/drivers/beta/ati/series613.shtml
here is link for beta 8500 drivers, these need to be installed manually, well through add new hardware, have disk select folder ya know what I mean.
Also I played with agp aperture setting in bios, try 64 and if your board offers try 128 and 256, i got best performance from 128, enable fast writes if you can and agp 4x in bio as well as through ATI card menu
Some 7500's at madonion.com are approaching 6000pts
