I am setting my room in my apartment and I'm kinda running out of room. I know that you are not supposed to put a sub woofer near a computer/monitor because the monitor's magnet can ruin them, but what about a printer. Is there any chance of damage or reduced quality to the prints?

I'm pretty sure its the subwoofer's magnet that ruins the monitor, not the other way around. I've had a cheap inkjet on a printer since i got the darn thing. Prints just fine.

magnets skrew with crt monitors... but other than that i havnt had problems with my sub of my 2.1 setup sitting on top of my server (its a lil 5inch harmon kardon sub) but i have had a 12 inch sub sitting on top of the same comp without probs. id imagine a printer wouldnt have probs

The printer won't have issues with EMI in the same way a monitor would. I suppose it's possible it could pick up some interference in the cable or possibly in the mechanical parts but all you'd have to do is print a page to test that out. I'd be more concerned with mechanical vibrations with a printer myself. Maybe you could look in to getting some scrap wood and making or buying a cheap table or shelf of some sort that goes over the sub, it wouldn't take up more room but would decrease mechanical vibrations.

If the sub is on when your printing you might get blurry prints...

Depends on if it is inkjet or not :)

The magnet on you sub should not hurt a printer. Unless you have some kind of massive esoteric sub. Vibration would be your worst enemy. Ive "knocked pictures off the walls with my sub before. (check the subwoofer sticky to see pics of my hand built sub)

I obviously wouldn't plan on printing with the thing on, and like I said its only temporary. I think im just gonna move some stuff around and put in on my fridge.

having the subwoofer too close to your computer will interfere with your sound quality if you are using analogue out (ie amping on the card) because you will get EMI in the audio believe it or not.

Depends on the shielding, and how powerful the magnent is. Also depends on how sensitive the equipment is. But yes, dont go making some leaning tower of audio orgy.
