Anyone else think that the price of the MC14 and MC21's are a bit outrages? Are there any alternatives?

well my thought was that they were made of copper..which isnt really cheap these days

I heard staples were a good alternative. not exactly sure though...


but I totally agree with you, those heat sinks are really expensive and IMO not really worth it.


I'm probably going to go to home depot and buy a packet of cheap metal jigsaw blades and hack up my old Pentium slot cooler.

I see them go for around $10. That's not so bad for a pack of 8. Seeing how they've got basically the best design out there (airflow direction doesn't matter as opposed to other BGA sinks with a fin design), and also made of copper which is very expensive, the price isn't bad at all.

More fins than the Swiftechs which means more surface area. I'd be interested to see a comparison between the two.

Sidewinder computers has the best price i've seen so far. And they ship internationally.

Well copper is a semi precious metal. But yeah, I think the price for there 8800 bundle pack is a bit high.
