For those who have seen the stock HSF on the 1.4 T-Bird, do you think it would fit onto a Socket 7 CPU, like an AMD K6-2? Or should not even consider such a thing? (How do I get the stock HSF off the "boxed" K6-2 cpu?)

yes it will work because the clips are all designed for the same size socket

i think the standard k6-2 heatsink should come off the same way a normal heatsink would, you may need to twist it as well because the thermal pad will be melted onto it.

if you cant get the heatsink off then don't worry. k6-2s dont overclock well and you will only be able to get about 50MHz out of it with a good heatsink

Hmm it should fit and as mentioned you should just keep the normal fan since it's quiet all you need to do is remove the dried thermal grease that is probably been there for years now or so.

I've got a Volcano II sink on my K6-2. Removing the sink that was there was not the easiest thing to do, just wedge a butter knife between the sink and the chip's cover plate. You'll have to lap the cover plate anyway to remove the dried epoxy (or whatever holds the sink on) so it wont matter if you scratch the cover plate a bit while seperating the sink from it.
