View Full Version : Volcano 6CU
How does the Volcano 6CU compare to the Global Win FOP38? I know its quieter but how much hotter would my cpu get with the Volcano compared to the Global Win?

the volcano is much better. i dont know the exact difference but take a look at the charts on www.dansdata.com/coolercomp.htm
6cu+ is kinda better since it pushes 38cfm which is needed for heavy duty.
The GlobalWin FOP isn't that great at all since it isn't on the recommendations of most sites.

so my volcano 6cu is better than my FOP 32? Just want to make sure before i switch
Global Win FOP38 - 0.61°C/W
Thermaltake Volcano 6CU - 0.61°C/W
Now how on earth is that possible! The Volcano 6CU has a slow fan and is very quiet, while my existing Global Win FOP38 has a 6800rpm unbearably loud fan!
Does this mean I can be sure that my temps will not change if I switch to the Volcano 6CU?

The only way you're gonna find out is to try. Personally, I would go with the quieter Volcano.
There are more factors than C/W (even if they are supposed to be the same..)and fan noise.
Give both a try and let us know.
:D
Elmo don't rely on one setup which one did you reach?
The main overclockers has the 6cu+ in as like .45 C/W so the 6cu is probably .47 or around there.
Keep the 6cu its way quieter, and trust me a better performance.
Thanks very much for all your help.
How about the new Volcano 7? How does it compare to the 6CU? I don't know which one to get.
okay I have a Volcano 5 that I am using right now, and a Volcano 6cu. I couldn' t find Volcano 5 on the front page, so I need another way to find out without installing it first. I don' t think it could be that much better, since the only difference is that the 6cu has a copper hs.
It does help alot with the copper base.
Volcano 7 is about 25 USD so about 10 more dollars and its about .42 CW so its fairly good although the downside is its 80x80mm which is big and you got to mod it to get the full 5000rpm for the full potential.
cool, so i guess I will put on the 6cu, but I ran out of thermal grease so I will probably use the pad, or just wait till I get some more.
the Volcano 7 is not that hard to mod, all you do is chop off the probe and sotter the two wires left over, or just twist them and tape them.

Yes, easy but..
ThermalTake should do it for us, takes too much of my surfing time :p
