I have a brand new MB and CPU (MSI K7T266 Pro 2-RU (Raid and USB) with 256 DDR RAM.

I wanna overclock it in a way where i dont actually have to fiddle with the CPU (im not that willing to risk it!!!!!)...

WHats the best and safest way?

Also, whats a good temp to keep the CPU operating @? Mine operates at a steady 45 Degrees (so the diagonisics say)...

On another matter, would a slow HDD decrease overall system performance? Cuz, my comp isnt as good as i thought it would be... i just upgraded my CPU/RAM/MB... I still have 2 5200rpm drives...

Thanks

Welcome to the forums the best/easy thing to do is increase the fsb. you are at 133 try going in increments of 2mhz so try 135 adn run a game or something if everytbning is okay reboot and raise it to 137. once the computer crashes or something reboot and lower it 1 if still a problem go back another 1. you should get a least 140fsb most get 160 but they unlock the chips and lower the multiplier! have fun and post your success.

You don't understand. As soon as you do any type of overclocking with a FSB increase you are increasing your risk of damaging the CPU, all cards on the PCI bus, the AGP card and every bit of data that passes through them. For as soon as you inc the FSB you may have to inc the voltage also which makes more heat. Heat destroys electrical components and tracings over time. Which is why you should use a quality heat sink and thermal paste etc....

The safest overclock is by increasing the multiplier. The risk you are referring to is the one associated with spreading condictive ink near the L1 bridges, and creating shorts. A definite risk there.

Probably the cheapest way to get a 1900+ XP at a 1600+ XP price is to wait 6 months and buy it then. Ha Ha
