I just got a new computer with a AMD Athlon and a Gigabyte board. The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to get an internal IP address for my broadband network connection. ANyone know how to test this or how to change the settings?

What specifically are you trying to do? Are you on a home LAN? Are you using a router or switch for the LAN? Are you using ICS? You need to provide more info.

if you're behind a router or proxy that assigns IP addresses, you have to make sure that you have DHCP enabled. that doesn't really seem to apply though, as xp pro uses this setting as default  did you try manually setting your IP address and dns server?

OK, I found out that the problem was actually when i installed Win XP Pro my CD failed before I finished and so I lost the files needed for the internal IP so I did a upgrade in Windows and now I'm A OK :) thanks guys
