winxp and internet problems

i have winXP pro
wheni connect (56k dialup) everything works fine
but when i get disconnected,and then reconnect
i connect fine,but nothing can access the internet
ICQ,IRC and IE cant access it

the only way i can get it to reconnect is to reboot and then reconnect
any ideas??

btw im running zonealarm but dont think this is the problem

I'm not on dialup but had a similar problem where I would lose my connection. At first, I shutdown zonealarm and I had my connection back. What I have found so far is go to

Start Menu>Run>Services.msc

this will bring up services menu. Find DNS Client and right click and stop, in properties change to Manual. If this solves your problem then change to disabled. Hope this helps.
