Compact Flash and Smart Media?

Are compact flash cards and smart media cards the same thing, or compatible? Can I use a smart media card reader to read my compact flash cards, and can I use a compact flash card reader to read smart media cards? Or are the two exclusive to eachother?

The two are not the same, and they are not compatible.

But, some of the card readers accept both, and others have adapters so they can read them.

Some of the photo quality printers out now also support both types of card

What I figured. I just wanted to be sure before I went out and bought a really neat smart media reader and found it wouldn't work with my compact flash cards. Thanks.
