Well my main rig has been down for a few months now due to a bad mobo, but it looks like it will be coming home in a few weeks. In the meantime I decided to go ahead and build a small LAN rig, and downstairs backup gamer. I'll be moving my E6600 into that, and I picked up a Q6600 from the classies.

So hopefully very soon I will be back on track with a new Quad, 2 Duals, and a few singles scattered about. OH, almost forgot to mention that the Protein Tank project is about to go back into production. The rig that is going in it has already been folding, but the tank itself should be up in the next few months.

More than just on track - sounds like you'll be on the express train. :burn: :burn: :burn:

W00t! Good deal. Glad to hear it!

I know it's been painful to have your main rig down.

That's an understatement. For some reason all my casual gamer friends have stepped up and been bugging me to game now that I don't have a rig. Very frustrating. Not to mention watching my F@H stats crap out.

Isn't it weird how that alwasy seems to happen?

judging on how this has happened to me, and me refering to em as "casual" gamers....

Maybe they aren't "Casual gamers" but you are just that hardcore?

Anywho... besides the food for thought, sorry about the mobo.... I thought I died a little when half my RAM took a crap cause my cat decided to stand on my powerstrip, with one paw partially pressing the on/off switch, causing massive power fluctiations (somehow bypassing all on-board safety things) and blowing 1 of my 2 1gig XMS2 sticks w/ EPP. I was getting frustrated trying to play OLD games, and felt like I was on "my work" computer (stupid DOD computers.... im never buying a dell...). I guess, atleast my computer was "partially" operational... just slowed down.

Ouch, that is almost worse than my board quitting. You can blame the cat, but really can't do anything about it...well short of having PETA or ASPCA called on you.

Hehe, yeah, here it is in maths:

Cat gets hurt = Wife kills me.

Sometimes... I swear she loves that little ******* more than me... O.o

LOL

Well after seeing the current AMD prices I think I have talked the ex into throwing a dual into her rig. so that would be one more dual as she is currently folding for me. How well do the 939 x2 chips perform with SMP folding?

Just barely meet the deadlines for smp folding, at 3800 - 4000 X2's, at stock speeds. (and they don't like folding while overclocked well, either, imo).

Would a C2D like an E6450 be possible? That would be considerably better for folding.

Is this referancing ONLY 939, or both 939 and AM2, cause my AM2 met the deadline easy (2.1 OC'd to 2.8- and nakie!) and I didnt run it for almost half a day as I was playing a couple games O.o

On average, with SMP client, when not using my computer, and just letting it fold, i get about 24min/1% update, and while just surfing the web, I get about 28-35mins/1% update.... havent tried it while gaming, cause I usually just turn it off... just finished my first SMP WU, and wow, those are worth ALOT more than normal WUs...basically multiplied my score (only had one normal WU in before).

I would think so. The AM2's seem to be much more capable.

Update: The E6600 is back on line, and the Q6600 is sitting on my desk waiting for a motherboard.

Yes, only 939. I should have made that distinction.

Glad to hear that you're able to recover (folding and otherwise), Godfather.
