I have twin 40Gb IBM Harddisks running in RAID0 on a IWill KK266+R mobo. I have used the latest RAID drivers from Iwill and am also running Windows XP. The drives are formatted NTFS (not sure whether that makes a difference to the problem)
My system runs fine for a couple of weeks after a repartition, reformat and reinstall of Windows but twice now with no prior warning chkdsk has run on bootup and reported errors with the disks even after a reformat and reinstall.
I can't confirm the exact disk errors reported yet since my sound card drivers bluescreen chkdsk in f mode. I'm gonna work around this tonight by disabling the driver and running chkdsk again. Hopefully I'll be able to update my post with more info after that.
I've been told that this is due to fragmentation of the master boot record which is caused by problems with the RAID drivers. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution other than scrapping the RAID0 config and switch to RAID1 or separate drives?
Any feedback appreciated.
Will.
