i was reading a article on the overclockers australia site about a water cooler and then he started talking about Condensation. u know when warm moisture-laden air comes in contact with something that cools it rapidly like the bottom of a heatsink of a water-cooler lets say and it makes it into water or ice (if its cold enough) he of course fixed it by buying Dow Corning RTV Sealant - 732 Electrical Sealant which blocks out any air but my Que. is, is this a big prob with water coolers??? or is this is just from a old review and this prob was alrdy fixed?

Condensation is a problem whenever anything reaches temperatures below those of the ambient air. Usually this involves the use of a peltier, regardless of whether it is air cooled or water cooled.

Unless you plan to cool the water below room temperature (ice, refrigerating), codensation won't be a problem

I've cooled below room temp and at room temp. When I was using a Pelt I was getting a temp of 8C and without I was getting 28C. A pelt is a cooling device where one side is very cold and the other side is very hot. And if you put the hot isde on the on the core of the CPU you will fry it within about a second. With a pelt I ended up fring two MoBo`s and two video cards.

Unless you use a chiller or a bong cooler, you can't cool the water below room temp. With a bong cooler there is still not enough temperature difference to worry about condensation.

What is a pelt? Some links on pelts to help you learn.

It said to use Silicone II. Which one? Do I get the one for doors and windows or the one for gutters? I think I might give it another go. Wish I would have seen that before.

Well with the middle of the socket I had an Allsop mousepad cut to fit. My temps read 8C.

What's big deal about sealing a socket? mine is though I'm not running a peltier (yet).

As for watercooling, most don't run with a pelt. The advantage to water over air without chilled water or pelts is that it runs a lot cooler for a lot less noise.
