how long does step-up take on average from the time you ship out your card to when you recieve the new one?

Depends on the shipping, but eVGA turned my card around in 1 or 2 days. Since you are already in Cali your wait shouldn't be too long. I'm on the East coast, so it can take a while if I do Ground shipping.

Will they cross ship? I'd hate to go without a card for several days.

Nope. I think you can get x-ship if you do an advanced RMA w/ them, but as far as I know step-up means no x-ship.

I don't think my step-up took that long and I live pretty far away.

I just looked it up, and eVGA received my card on 11/6, and shipped out the replacement the same day. I received it on 11/12, and that's ground shipping all the way across the country. I think I used 1 or 2 day air to get the card there b/c I didn't have to pay for it, but you being in Cali should make the turn-around pretty quick even if you use ground both ways.

eVGA was slow over the holidays, though. I'm waiting on an RMA'd GT from them. I sent it out on 12/18 ground. eVGA signed for it on 12/28 (slow holiday shipping), and only today did it get 'received' into the system. The RMA dept was closed until 1/4! I don't hold it against eVGA to be slow over the holidays, though, b/c I'm glad they let their employees take a break. I know I enjoyed mine! I'm just glad I bought a GTS. Going w/o a card for that long would be tough!
