No. According to gigabytes website.
I think it has to do with phase pwm's on the board. Or what they're called in english heh

i think the 965 doesn't support the penryn chips..

False. ASUS P5B supports Penryn with just a BIOS upgrade. I own the board and ASUS website also states it. Additional info:
