Forza2 professional big cajones challenge

Here is the challenge... .Is anybody up to it? If you're not don't worry, only the most skilled drivers can do this. Just please don't accept and embarrass yourself. This is not for the faint of heart.

We will race at Silverstone 3 laps with 1966 Ford GT40s only, bone stock no upgrades and NO ASSITS turned on. This mean no braking lines, no stability management, no traction control and no antilocks.

Add your name to the list if you're up to it and we'll all work out a time.

I just got forza 2 with my Xbox 360 like 3 weeks ago... I dont even have that unlocked yet. Guess I am not pro yet :P But I would be down to race with other folks in this forum! Most people I race online are ok but often times you get stuck with an idiot kid who won't stfu.

I'm lvl 11 as of this morning :) I'd do it if I get it before my Live subscription expires. And really the only thing I run with currently in actual game is ABS, and even then sometimes I think it screws me over.

I run it authentic to the cars, so if I'm driving a Ferrari F50, it has traction control, ABS and stability management so I turn it on but if I'm driving a 1966 Ford GT or a 1971 Dodge Challenger then I turn it all off.

Ah constantly switching it. I don't know cars that well, but then again I consider them racing cars and really wouldn't most of this stuff be stripped to conserve on wieght? I gotta turn ABS off tonight and give it a whirl. I like a challege, just if it gets too hard might have to turn some of the stuff back on :)

I am at Level 11 also. The thought of turning off ABS with how touchy the brake pedal is on the M$ wheel scares me. Coming to this pedal from a G25 and rFactor is enough of an adjustment :eek:

The worst part of it is the compter cars' AI. You make one mistake and take it sideways just once or bump a car in a turn and they will plow into you and destory your car by taking hits from 3-5 AI cars so that your car is done for and they continue on. You MUST race FLAWLESSLY to win. It is a testament to skill.

Indeed well to most extent they are exact. I've seen the AI screw up ni a few spots but it might be just the early lvl's. Now I don't know how but one cut infront of me I turned him a guy was riding my butt and nudged me, guy in front turned and I was on his driver side and ended up slamming him into a wall. Managed just a few scratches on my bumpers and that guy was smoking the rest of the race, his engine must of got whacked.

I'm in, just need to buy the car. Also you are probably a more skilled driver than myself but I am used to driving with all assists off. Can't promise I won't go off-road once or twice.

I haven't played forza in a while. I might play a little bit to see how bad I am now. The only thing is, since my 360 with my forza save was stolen I'll be starting fresh with no cars. I might still have my skill level but I don't think I was at 40 yet.

plus the ABS with me has to be on at all times, no wheel here when i hit the breaks button with out ABS it goes stright into the wall, theres no varying it with a controller.

the rest off is fine though, if a car gets out of control i will turn tcs on (renault clio most unstable car ever) but i havent had to do that very often and its usually only after i put a ton of work into it and i woulda paid for an ABS system any way like a real car

The reason why you're sliding into a wall when braking with no ABS is you're jamming on the brakes. You need to squeeze in gently at first then apply more pressure slowly until you're at the speed you need to be at, then because you have no TCS or STM you need to ease on the throttle initially (especially when cornering) before flooring it to gain speed.

I typically ran with ABS, but finally tured it off last night and switched it turning on Traction Control on. Get a few more points and that but switching yes takes a few races to get a feel for it and you can't jam on the breaks, even though you shouldn't jam on the breaks even with ABS, but you get more control over the car I feel.

All the buttons are pressure sensitve so lighlty tapping on it or pressing it eases on the breaks or gas for that matter. And if you really want to stop slamming on the breaks, you better not be turning at the time, otherwise you will end up in the wall.

Those times will work for me. I am currently in between graduating and my start of employment so I got time to burn. I also have a new wife but all I have to tell her is "I am playing Forza II and that is that." and i'm golden. Well, at least thats how I hope it works!

Well, you could try to save up some money (Endurance Races) and then try to buy one off the auction house. Or you could see if there is a generous OCfourms member who would buy the car for you, then gift the car to you in exchange for a car note.

nope i cant stand em, since i started playing games A button has always been go in any racing game. hard habit to break when you play games for 19 years

The best way to do it if you're new to the car, is to simply play with the Telemetry on set to Friction. It's very helpful in understanding the dynamics of the car, and seeing where it's limits are at.

This is what i'm essentially going to do with the car, just take it around as many laps as I can stand, getting a feel for it and learning how to take certain turns.

Once that's done, you can really get an understanding for the car on any track. Also tuning is essential if you're not playing with assists.

Remember that some races don't allow any tuning beyond tire pressure.

I ended up having a buddy gift me a couple cars to get me going a bit from the beginning. Get those wins fast and easy. Only managed to get to lvl 14 from scratch though.

Guys I may be out of the race, I accidentally bumped the Xbox 360 while FORZA 2 was playing and now have a huge circular scratch around the outer part of the disk! :bang head

I restarted and now the icons to select the tracks will not load, however I was able to enter and race a proving grounds race. I will update you guys tomorrow to let you know for sure.

Also anyone know of a good product to remove scratches from game discs?

Well after everybody bailed, I raced some people over LIVE and geez......

First race was a guy who kept changing the rules pre race so everybody was thoroughly confused by the beginning so naturally nobody noticed he turned off the ABS at the last minute and wouldn't you know the first turn only 1500ft from the start was a hairpin :rolleyes: needless to say BIG pileup and he just coasted on by...... I came back to finish 2nd to that idiot.

Second race was a guy whining about me using my fastest car (F50) against his GT40 after I lapped him.... so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and switched to my GT40 and after 3 laps when he was hopelessly losing he quit.

Third race was a bunch of kids who couldn't drive

Fourth race was some losers that were drifting, I lapped them 3X in a 5 lap race.

After that I could take no more and went to play with my dogs.... much more rewarding.
