I think u r thinking about trace tapes. They have lines that you place onto the unlocked bridges which hopefully unlocks them. The last I remember about these was that they were no longer recommended for athlon XP's cause they were not effective in some applications. You may try but you are not guaranteed in unlocking ur cpu. Ill post the link to the trace tapes as soon as I find it.

Heres the site.

Wish you luck in using this. If anyone has used this on their XP, please let us know how you did it, or how it didnt work.

The trace tapes are a bit pricey if u ask me. But if u want to try go ahead. In my opinion, I would rather save the $20 for the trace tapes and spend it on supplies needed to unlock ur cpu. U will most likely have enough stuff for many other cpus. However, if u dont feel comfortable with doing it and u want an unlocked cpu, trace tapes are the way to go, but there is no guarantee. Then again there is no guarantee in you doing it yourself. Whatever u feel like doing. Good luck!
Trace tape does not work on xp cpu's because the bridge dot's are below the surface slightly.
You're right, they don't work with the XPs. I've unlocked many of 1.0Ghz T-Birds with them....and wasted a pack of three on my old XP1600+ :(

Yeah, no need to spend your hard earned money on trace tapes that doesnt guarantee an unlocked xp processor.
Why bother? Just crank up the FSB. My XP 1800+ runs nice and stable at 1754 MHz and will go at 1772 MHz except for Prime95. IMO unlocking is for cheaper 1 GHz Athlons which have a lot of potential for up to a 50% overclock. The XP CPUs only O/C from 15% to 20% which you can do by just upping the FSB. Unlocking is only worth a shot on an XP 1900+ if you'll be water cooling.
