Let me explain my statement. I played the demo and didn't like it and a lot of people said I was nuts so I rented the full game:
Graphics: This year the in game graphics are improved a bit but the BEAUTIFUL closeups during freethrows are GONE and the pretty closeup replays are gone too. Both have been replaced by in game graphics.
The players also do not move as fluidly as they did before and seem slower. They've also recycled a lot of the player pictures with old pictures (except for the superstar players). EA has done this for years with Madden. Each year the graphics get a little worse. Madden 2006 is still the best looking Madden game on the 360 even if the animations aren't as good as 2008.
Sound: There is a lot of rehashed and reused dialog in this game, plus they have ripoff songs too, once sounds like Jump by Van Halen and another sounds like Start Me Up by the Rolling Stones. Madden has done this for years as well until they omitted Madden all together from the game. Really, would it cost THAT much to actually license the real songs instead of having these ripoff songs?
Control: The controls feel stiff and the players don't respond as quick as they should. At least they didn't add a gimmick stick control this year like EA does every year with Madden and LIVE.
Interface: You know how Madden had a good user interface for the menus and then they went and totally screwed it up and have been changing it every year since? EA has done the same thing to the menus in 2K8, this may be the worst menu system I've ever seen.
I'm going to try NBA LIVE 08 after taking this back, it HAS to be better.
