basically the same price , I have a feeling my onboard realtek sound is screwing things up id rma the board but ive been without a computer for too long im sick of waiting on rma's and getting a refurb "tested" item back that was probably used to oc a q6600 to 10000000000000000000000000000000000mhz.
So ive decided to lay 200 down on a sound card and cant pick ( i will be upgrading to vista in awhile )

well if you dont tell us what you want it for how can we advise one?
The Xonar has much better quality output- but if you dont listen to music or have a trained ear or if you play a lot of games dont buy it.

My call would be the auzentech prelude.

If you game and want EAX the Auzen is definitely a better choice. I'm not sure which one has better analog output, Theocnoob says the Asus does but provides no details or further info and also has the card in his sig so may be biased? ;) Some further info to back it up would be useful. I have an Auzen and I can say the output quality is good but I can't say for sure which one is better.

No Im not biased. The Auzen prelude is a better card overall. The Xonar has a better sounding analog out just because the 8788 is a better controller for that kind of thing than Xfi DSP but he didnt mention the prelude in his choices...
I dont think the Xonar is the best card out there. Auzen's meridian smacks it and the Prelude is atleast even if not better and smacks it for EAX so...
unless youre JUST a hi fi video person get an EAX card
