For my first volt mod I was happy that I was able to get the voltage of my gpu from stock 1.35v to close to 1.5v (1.47v) without breaking anything. That was until I found it only allowed me to go from the original OC of 750mhz to 775mhz core without locking up within 10 minutes. The GPU is 42c load (HR-03 with a delat FTW) and the 12v rail is at 12.1 with SETI and rthdribl running (voltmeter checked). Its a XFX 8600GTS 256mb, and its the 675mhz/1ghz version. Vid ram and everything else is stock.

Hard or Soft mod?

first off gotta cover the bases... r u sure you shaded the right resistor and are reading from the right spot.

Back when i vmodded my 6600gt AGP i gave it an extra .1V and it got me from 572 to 642mhz on the core but only 25mhz for an extra .12v is saying to me either u got a bumb clocker or something was done wrong... (possibly over voltage protection kicking in?)

I know VRzone clocked an 8600gt (or was it a 8600GTS) to high heaven

EDIT: it was an 8600GTS but they got the core to 1ghz... they were runnin 1.7v through it tho

Hard or Soft mod?

Hard.

nd4spdbh2: That was the guide I was using and yes, checked everything twice.

Edit: I decided that while still there the questionality (just made it up, confusingness) has lessened, thought about it a little and since my Bday is in a few months and I have a new screen with a max res of 1920x1200 I might look into new cards with 1gb ram (the only reason I got a card with 256mb was because my old screen had a max res of 1280x1024) Still want to try to fix this cause well, has to last 2 months.

Edit part 2: Could it be a Rivatuner problem? using rivatuner 2.02 and nvidia 169.21 drivers, and when I checked rivatuner it said it wasnt compatible with these drivers (just a random thought)

Yeah that worked, still in the process but its stable at 815mhz.
