Hey Guys,

Another problem, when I had my HD's on seperate Ide's I was trying to copy my 5.4giger over to my 'new' 13 giger so I can toss my old 5.4.. about 80% through it locks up on an invaild cluster error, I've had both the Hd's checked over completely, the only drive with problems is the 5.4 giger, but they are marked as bad and unused.. so I"m not sure why it keeps locking up.

I'm using "MaxBlast" a hd copying/testing program from Maxtor for use with their drives.. but apperently I need a stronger program that can fix cluster errror problems or work around them automaticaly..

Any ideas?

you can't fix bad clusters....you can only mark them as unusable.

download the software for your hd's mfg site and have that mark the bad clusters, then try to copy it over.

I'd prefer Power Quest products, as they have always been fail safe for me.

Well, sometimes runing a scandisk in thorough mode will help mark the sector as bad. or clean up cross linked files and what not. After running that you might have a chance to clone the drive to your new hd.

The bad ones are all marked as bad, and I'm using the diag testing tools from Maxtor but still no luck, so far I know that my 13 giger is perfect (After leaving it testing allll night in loops) and that my 5.4giger is about to die!

I need to get everything off my 5.4 giger and on my 13giger.. arg..

I'll try looking into the PowerQuest Products, Thanks Shads.

thats the first thing I tryed, still no luck on fixing the old 5.4 giger, arg.

Maybe I"ll just put a fresh install on the 13 giger and set the 5.4 up as slave and copy over stuff as I have to... what a pain :/
