Just otta curiosity, how do some of you guys on the top of the personal Seti stats crunch so many WUs per day? I mean some of those figures are insane. Do you guys have like 20 computers at your disposal or what?
My main rig (1.4 tbird) crunches a WU in about 5 hours (screen saver)... so even if I left it running 24/7, I would get only 34 WUs per week. And some of you guys on top are doing 30-50 WUs per DAY. How do u do it?

They have lots of computers running Seti. It's called a farm. :D

If you switch to the CLC you will probably drop 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour off your WU times.....
Basically, have a look at TC's farm - more computers than you could shake a stick at!

Before he took it out from his sign, TC had around 10 computers.....almost all top notch (1.0 GHz+) and he is planning in buying someothers!!!!!
If you really are going to build a farm you can try using just the mobo, memory, a CPU, a HD and a NIC. You can check them with a switch or with software.

I'm just kidding about building the farm, I think 4 is enough for me. 1 main rig, 1 server, 1 for roomate, 1 for linux.
I'd be nice to build computers just for crunching, but thats too much money for me. You'd still be looking at like 300 or so for even those very basic systems (assuming your getting 1G+ chips). Besides, 3 of my rigs are in my bedroom... sounds like a jet engine at takeoff in my room. I think if I got any more the neighbors would complain lol.
My current list in no particular order:
P3S @ 1600MHz
Dual 1.33GHz MP
1500+ XP @ 1700MHz
1500+ XP @ 1700MHz
1500+ XP @ 1680MHz
1500+ XP @ 1660MHz
P3 1GHz
P4 2GHz
P3S @ 1583MHz
Tbird 1.4GHz
Tbird 1.33 @ 1600MHz
P3 850 laptop
P3 1.13GHz laptop
P2 450
Ppro 200
It changes slightly almost monthly, so I dropped the list.

Sweet jesus man!
Can I come over sometime? LOL
TC is my hero:D
While I somewhat less "acreage", a small farm can pump some wus out too!
Farm is in the sig; the last two are competing in the Slow Team Races.

I just have the one small plot of land, which was XP1500 shaped, but now crunches at XP1900 speeds.... (I've hit 1.6GHz!)
I do it with the love of a good woman. ;)

looks good all i have now is a lone 400Mhz iMac!!
I am throwing out the seed right now for my seti farm. So far I have an Athlon 1400@1705 MHZ, a Celery 333@525, and a P2 366 laptop. Mayby I can convince my brother and my dad to use the screensaver version of seti since they leave there computers on all the time. My brothers system is a duron 600@950 and my dads is a duron 900@1000 512 mb ram cas 222!
That would definately help.
I start ordering for my dual rig next week and hope to have it up and running within the next week. Should gain an extra 12 WUs a day for the team and give me well over 40 a day.
Dang thing is going to be more expensive than I first thought though.
Can we get some unified terminology here? I'm thinking:
1 = computer
2 = window box
3 - 4 = garden
5 + = farm
TC = global agricultural industry
Sound good?
That sounds pretty good. Too bad Chawken is no longer around. He and I could have planned a merger that would have had the FTC all over us :D That would have been slick! We could have started charging for our crunching services, providing lackluster performance, and forcing everybody to switch to our own client version that has to be patched weekly. That sounds like a familiar business model ;)
Your local power supplier sends you chocolates and a hallmark card for your birthday right?

Anything from as low as a vic-20 up to, and including, an XT.
