View Full Version : Changing 2T to 1T --> can't boot
Hi.
I changed the bios setting of my memory from 2T to 1T and now the system can't boot. If I switch on the computer all I get is a bip every 1-2 seconds and the screen is totally blank.
What can I do to restore the previous settings (I can't even go to the bios).
Thanks a lot.

Don't use 1T? There isn't a real life performance increase by the way are you running 4 sticks? Oh look in your manual for the 'CMOS Reset Jumper' It will show you where it is and what to do with it.
Hi JamesXP.
Thanks for the reply.
I have an "old" (but still good ;)) AMD64 3000+ 939pin and yes, I have 4 memory sticks in dual channel (4x 512MB for a total of 2GB).
So basically resetting the CMOS I will restore the system's default bios right?

I've yet to see a Socket 939 system that will work properly at CPC:1T when all four memory slots are occupied. You'll have to use 2T.
From what I remember, when all four slots are occupied running at 1T puts too much of a load on either the IMC or the chipset.
Thanks for the info. I will never change that setting anymore (never )
Anyway I did everything JamesXP said and now everything is back to normal...thank you very much!
(I was scared as hell:eek::D)
