I've been using 22.50 drivers for my GF3 vid card. I recently installed the official 23.11 drivers and saw a 12 point increase in 3Dmark2001 scores. Seems nice and stable so far. Next I decided to upgrade my system from DirectX 8.0 beta to the new official DirectX 8.1. Oddly enough I lost 22 points in 3Dmark2001, but the graphic quality looks a bit better and the system still seems rock stable. I was just wondering if anyone else had similar results? Guess I don't mind sacrificing a tiny bit of performance for better video quality.

How's it going batboy.

Try Det. 22.80 with DX8.1. That will increase your 3DMark scores and as well as the FPS in games. People also reported that the 2D image quality improved a little.

I've installed directx 8.1 like five times, and 3dmark still says I'm using 8.0... when I install it it updates the components, but it doesn't give me a dialog asking if I want to restart. What's the problem? I tried installing with my rig at it's default speed and it still doesn't work. USing Win 2000 pro with SP2.

Try Direct X buster (http://www.directxbuster.de/index_e.html) to uninstall it and then reinstall.
