Here's my current shopping list feel free to point me to a better / more powerful part if you know of them.

This is just a folder, nothing else.

Don't have a good PSU picked out, and as for a video and CPU cooler...

Fans I am a bit clueless on as well. I had thought about using one 120mm fan for each cpu for right now. I have a basement that I think I will put the unit(s) in to keep them cool. Going with this so far.
KINGWIN F-012BB 120mm Case Fan - Retail (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811999965)

What I have comes to about $548 right now (needing power supply)

That will be a sweet folder ;)

Any reason you need 2gb?? If it is just folding...512 would work (although cutting it close) ;)

No particular reason, thought it would help and it looked pretty affordable.

I think 2x512 will work....from what I understand. You could also pick up a used HD for $20 or so...to save a few bucks.

Also might consider going with a board that will run Penryn, not sure if that one will or not. Maybe you already looked at that. :santa:

I'm almost positive that I can shag a HD around here (work). Old legacy HD won't hurt speeds, right? It's all cpu power isn't it?

Hmmm, dunno about the Penryn compatibility, are any boards touting that yet?

I believe Abit's IP35-E supports Penryn, and at $60 after MIR it may be the best deal.....but I'd want approval on that from a couple other members before you made a choice.

Edit: that price is @ newegg through end of January 2008
