Hi I was just wondering which is faster usb or pci....if usb is faster how can you have pci cards that hold usb ports and those ports be as fast as a usb port on the motherboard....does anyone know???
Thanks Ron

I believe PCI is faster... usb is under 10 megs per sec. whereas PCI is something like 100+... I think... don't quote me on the PCI speed... Anyway USB is slower than PCI... that I know:D
USB = 12Mb/sec
PCI = not really sure but you do have NICs that are 10/100 so....
I'm sorry for the addded confusion but can someone give a concrete answer here:beer:

Oops... I thought usb was only 1.5 or something:beer:

USB is 1.5MB/s or 12Mb/s, that is the same number. I would imagine PCI is a WHOLE lot faster, a parallel port is a tad faster than USB.

parallel is slower...it's right above serial. next would be USB, then Firewire, then USB 2, then internal PCI, then AGP, then IDE, then SCSI
PCI is defintely whole lot fastah!

PCI has/is a 32-bit data path, 33MHz clock speed and a maximum data transfer rate of 132MB/sec.
The 64-bit PCI bus doubles that speed to 264 MB/sec.
...yeah it is a whole lot fastah! :D
