ok heres heres prob, im spending about $2,000.00 and a rig and im getting the Q6600 with GO stepping, and i was thinking about the Asus Striker but i have heard its reall buggy. but some one was talking about the 680i boards something about the evga boards are good. and now i want to be over clocking also.
any help with this will help me out......
and what is GOstepping and 680i?

680i is a Nvidia nForce Chispet, It isn't the greatest for overclocking and the fans on the boards tend to be loud, they are expensive too... If your not going SLi there is no need for 680i A good P35 motherboard would suit you better.

Also the G0 stepping is a later revision of the conroe core, it gives off less heat and is proven to be a better overclocker than B3 stepping processors the G0's normally get around 3.6GHz on good cooling.

First off, welcome to the forums!

Simply, 680i is a chipset (it handles all the data processed by the computer and sends it to the right place). This is made by Nvidia and is used in both Intel and AMD based boards. If you would like to know more, read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chipset

G0 is a processor stepping. Basically when Intel improves the process of making the processor, they give it a new stepping code to tell them apart.

680i is a pretty good overclocker, but not as good as boards that use Intel's P35 or X38 chipsets. Also, Nvidia released an updated chipset called 780i but it is a good bit more expensive than 680i boards. Is there a particular reason you want a 680i (ie SLI setup)?

Well, I'll answer you questions, but it won't help you much.
You need to do some more research in order to be able ask the right questions to get the answers you need.
Steppings are like "batches" of CPUs. Some are better than others.
680i refers to the particular chipset used on a motherboard.

All this begs the question of why you would spend $2k on something and have no idea what you are buying.
Perhaps Googling and reading some reviews will help you.
