I've wondered this for awhile..

is the scoring system biased?

u know on some older cards (like mine) when I run the benchmarks I can't do game 4 nature, the nature image quality test and pixel something (shading I think)

so do I get automatic zero's? and by newer cards simply completing those tests automatically get higher score than me?

Well in that case it isn't biased since your card cannot read it so marks will be deducted.

If you write a test and you don't answer the question because you do not have the knowledge you loose marks simple as that it based on 2001 ..

UNFAIR ADVANTAGE!!

so I guess I'd be better off comparing in 3dmark 2000 than..

The score should be calculated on the tests your card can do. It can't do the Nature or Pixel Shader tests because these require either a GF3 or an 8500 to complete. And only the first 4 tests are used to calculate the overall score.

Actually your card is scored on the tests it can do. 2001 only really generates a score from the first 6 tests. The two truck, the two dragon, and the two lobby ones.

You don't take a hit if you cant do the nature tests.
