Okay, I am somewhat confused as t owhat the hell my video cards specs should be.

Why?

Well. okay lets start The box reads 'SuperGrace Electronics' 'Geforce 2 GTS Pro' ' TITANIUM EDITION'

"nVIDIA Geforce2 GTS PRO chipset"
"32/64MB SDR/DDR, 128-bit interface'
"Memory clock up to 190mhz"
"Core clock up to 200mhz"

It appears the packaging is obviously not what the product inside is.

Oh hello - the box had a slip of paper inside...

'nVIDIA GEFORCE 2 Ti USERS MANUAL' (Users Manual? Its 1 piece of A4!!!)

it reads:

"nVIDIA Geforce 2 Ti chipset"
"32/64MB SDR/SGR/DDR, 128-bit interface"
"Memory clock up to 200mhz"
"Core clock up to 250mhz"

Hmm okay that sounds normal - my understanding of DDR is that 2x200(memory speed)= 400mhz.

This thing is definately a Ti - on bootup the video bios shows Geforce 2 Ti AGP 32MB - hmm and also an Aopen logo - wtf??? And Sisoft Sandra reports the hardware id as Geforce2 GTS DDR - no its not a GTS - Windows detects it as a Ti - which was what it was supposed to be on ebuyer.com - argh IM SO CONFUSED! Nvidia.com also appears to group the Pro/GTS/Ti series together so...

Okay lets check out the speeds on the card.

"Core clock up to 250mhz" - yep thats fine it is running at 250mhz...
"Memory clock up to 200mhz" - WTF - err it says 329mhz (see screen dumps below)

App can be found at www.guru3d.com btw

eh?

*TRIPOD HOST SO SLOW D/L OF ABOVE PIX*

It shows up as 329 in all tweaking products i have tested - including the nVIDIA "coolbits" tab in the Advanced Display Properties - I assure you this is 100% default values...

Now tell me. If this is DDR - this should give me 2x329 = 658 - but I know thats not possible. So whats going on? Is this number already been doubled? 330/2 = 162 (NOOOOOO)

OR - have i been sent a SDR or SGR (what is SGR - i have no idea) version by mistake? OR is this actually DDR and i should knock it up to 400 (max is 415)...

If you want to have a peek at what i actually got goto ebuyer.com - or the manufacturer www.supergrace.com (wow not .com.tw!!!)

Anyway please - all you long-time Geforce2 owners who dont talk out of their rectums please reply - and multiple replies i dont want 1 person saying bump it up and no other confirmations...

Well what can I say... The performance is alright i suppose - although i think my crappy mobo + duron 900 need replacing to see the full power...

Once again, thank you kind geniuses in advance! IM SO CONFUSED!!!

so- what are the clock speeds of this card out of the box? that is all that determines what kind of card it is.

Geforce2 GTS= 200 core, 333 memory(166DDR)
Geforce2 GTS PRO- 200 core, 400 memory(200DDR)
Geforce2 Ti- 250 core, 400 memory (200DDR)

from what you said, it looks like you got a card clocked at GTS levels.

GF2 Ti cards seem to have rather fast memory on them, so while it appears that they aren't too much hotter than a GTS or Pro they should be able to OC to much higher levels.

A "Titanium Edition" GF2 is not necesarily the same as a GF2 Ti. I'd get in touch with whoever you got it from, see what the deal is.

So basically ive been ripped off. Look im not stupid but i expected to recieve what the description says - 400mhz , not 330.

Hmmmmm.

And before you say its crap - its all i can afford.

WTF. Okay the description has changed.

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=30405

NOW it says 190 mem and 200 core? argh im on 250 core and 330 mem - bleeeh whats going on - okay so basically you are sayign its a GTS - but its core is 250, the VGA bios bootup clearly indicates Geforce2 Ti Chipset. Windows detects it as a Geforce2 Ti.

Right.

So basically its a 'GTS Pro' with a boosted 250 core? This is all a bit funny to me - the performance is great - but if i am supposed to have better - then i would obviously like it...

Wait. Whats that. http://www.supergrace.com/i_vga/sggpa32d.htm
now does that above link or does it not say it is DDR 2x200mhz (400)? oh ffs it says up to...

Hmm okay this looks like my card - without the TITANIUM on the front

oh bugger. It looks like ebuyer.com have confused the Titanium Edition with Geforce 2 Ti (still doesnt explain the Video BIOS or windows detection...), this cheap arse company are simply trying to fool people by making it a TITANIUM EDITION, but it clearly says bleh

RIGHT THATS IT I AM GOING TO TAKE IT BACK - AND ORDER A HERCULES 3d PROPHET 4500 64MB - Anyone see any performance problems, details i should know before i buy this?

looks like you got a non-reference card. Sometimes companies release cards with their own special clock settings to help them stand out from the pack. Usually just gets confusing unfortunately.

I have never ever heard of Supergrace before- are these a local company to you? As for 'Ebuyer', well, they have 3 separate entries at www.resellerratings.com, and none of them are good. This might be a case of caveat emptor, and that sucks. Sounds like you really thought you were buying something different from what they sold you.

I would personally return it, and then get a replacement from a reputable vendor-NOT ebuyer, they already screwed you once right?

The 4500 is a neat card, it has all the pluses and minuses of the Kyro2 chipset- but it won't be as fast as a genuine Ti, or even a GTS for that matter. The price is right tho. Read up on the chipset, see if it is right for you.

No i dont think that ebuyer conned me - i think they misinturpreted that this card - its a TITANIUM EDITION GTS not a Ti - but stil lthis is rather f***ed up. The UR - in my last post -pointing to supergrace.com - clearly states 400mhz - not 330.

Either way im gonna take it back (or maybe legal action :D hmm) and i probably wont get that 4500 seeign as you said the performance is worse than a GTS so... hmm well im kinda buggered - i dont suppose anyone can suggest any decent sites? Please note - im in England so....

The thing is that 4500 is the same price as that GTS/Ti/something card i jsut got and well i want decent performance.

So the core is at 250 - oaky thats nice. the mem is at 333 - what would i be able to get this to? (166 DDR) or should i return it oh i dont know :(

What are you waiting for? Just up the memory clock a bit at a time, and see what she'll do. There's a chance you can get that memory clock near, or at 400. You won't know till you try it.

You may have gotten what you paid for, after all.

straight up, rooski may have the right idea!

I got my GTS's memory up to 424mhz, up from 333. It's like a whole new card. Didn't need any crazy cooling or anything either. 400 at least should be easy.

And dude, the 4500 is a totally different kind of card then the GF2 types. The weird Tile-based rendering and all. It barely moves in some games, and destroys even a GF2 Ultra on others. It also has great picture quality.

Read this and see if it's right for you-
