Hello again OC forumers,

It's time to upgrade my circa 2005 computer to a modern gaming machine and I need some PSU advice. I currently have an OCZ PowerStream 520W, which has 33A on the 12V, 28A on the 3.3V and 40A on the 5V rails.

My proposed system is the following:

Intel Q6600 overclocked hopefully to 3.4-3.6 GHz
Gigabyte D3L or D3R mobo
2x1GB DDR2 400 (something decent)
GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB probably w/ 3rd party cooler
3x 120mm fans
1x 7200 rpm SATA hdd
1x 7200 rpm PATA hdd
1x DVD R/W

So the question is, will my old PSU be enough? Someone over on the anandtech boards said I should be fine, but a friend of mine with the same setup said he had to ditch his Antec 520W in favor of something with more juice on the 12V rail.

Thoughts?

Should be ok.

The OCZ unit is head and shoulders above an older Antec. As long as your unit is in good shape, you should be o.k. One of the few Topower winners (if not the only) in the market.

Great! Thanks a lot for the feedback! That was the answer I was hoping for.
