Cool. I'll watch it at home. FarCry and Crysis are two of my most favorite games ever. I hope FarCry 2 can hang with them. Weapon jams are completely idiotic though. They don't happen in real life as much as it looks like they do in game. Most quality and weapons rarely if ever jam, especially if they're not old and worn out. The self medic crap looks like it could get tedious too. I hope there is a way to turn those off, but I would be willing to deal with them if the game is great otherwise.
I don't know if they show those in that video, but they were in the original press release demo video.

You must not know of the M16! Oh man I crack myself up! The graphics look good, but it might not make the game good. We'll see if this game is worthy of the FarCry name.

That AR15 is mine. It's jammed a grand total of 2 times. Once because of a piece of crap magazine that I got with it from the dealer. The second time it was because of a defective uncrimped round that nosed into the case as it tried to feed. I've put almost 10,000 rounds through it in a desert environment. ;) I'm not saying that there aren't more reliable weapons, but it is NOT even close to as bad as some idiots will outright lie about and make it out to be. Anyway sorry to get off topic. ;)
If the AR15 was not a reliable weapon, SWAT teams wouldnt use it nor would the armed forces.
Generally from my limited knowledge of M16's/AR15', the gun usually isnt the cause of the jam. As alien said, its mostly a defective magazine or cartridge.

FarCry 2 looks like it could be a great game, I just hope the MP is as good as the SP
ar15/m16 have a tight machine spec which makes them very accurate, however the down side is if it gets too dirty from being fired to much and not cleaned or any foreign debri (ie. sand or dirt) gets into it, it may FTE or FTF

Looks great. Should be a decent game, or at least a decent engine.

Looks nice, I'm looking forward to this game. Is it still coming out in 2008?
Also, why did I have to enter my birthday to see that trailer? I didn't notice anything M-rated. lol

There was a warning at the beginning, "Any eyes under the age of 18 may explode upon viewing this grass and/or zebra."
Nothing short of 2 8800's are going to be able to run that at max settings...maybe 1024x768 :(
This looks more then crysis, which right now 2 8800's cant even run properly. But damn, it looks great, and in a graphical setting that I really dont think anybody has done before.
You know on one hand I think it's awesome that companies (with crytek leading the way) are designing games and gam enegines with graphics that are a good year or two ahead of current hardware.
On the other hand, it would be nice if we didn't need TRI-SLI to run some of these games at high to max settings.

likely rendered video and wont look like that... remeber UbiSoft bought the farcry rights, so Crytek wont be making this.

yup :) so not sure what engine they will be using if the same one, or something licensed, but i dont expect it to be as good looking as farcry was when it came out in it's day.

Same one as what, farcry? Crysis? Its neither. Both belong to Crytek, this is Ubi's farcry2 engine that they are working on. Strickly theirs and in house

From what I've read, it's a very highly modified Unreal engine (2.5 I think). So it looks like they've done with the Unreal engine what Valve did with the Quake engine for the original Half-Life. It looks great!

The Zebra's butt.
Which by the way was amazing(The Zebra not its butt). The grass not any better then crysis.

I read on their site its completly inhouse but if its based on that, I dunno. It looks nice is all.

I think the video kinda sucked not much action to show what the engine or game will be like while playing

Its the Dunia engine, dunia meaning "world" or "earth" in Turkish, Arabic, Greek, Persian, Hindi, Urdu, Swahili and Malay languages. The engine will take advantage of multi-core processors and support DirectX 9 as well as DirectX 10. Only 2 or 3 percent of the original CryENGINE code is being re-used, according to Michiel Verheijdt, Senior Product Manager for Ubisoft Netherlands.
Far Cry 2 will also support the Ambx-technology from Philips. With the proper hardware, this adds effects like vibrations, ambient coloured lights, and fans that generate wind effects. The agreement will also see an amBX patch being released for the original Far Cry...
I LOVED FarCry 1. It was hard as hell, but I honestly loved sneaking through the jungle.
Hopefully this is a bit more realistic, they get vehicle physics down a bit better, and they have a little bit more in-depth gameplay.

Ya I saw this a while ago. Anyone ever see one of these aMBX systems or even better, tried one out? Looks cool and I like the idea... but is it cool or just lame?
I think its over the edge, it doesn't really add that much more to the game/movie i know someone who ha a 50" Phillips plasma tv with ambilight or w.e they call it.
i know im not going out to spend an extra 399 on something that doesn't improve performance.

lol! Thanks for clarifying. :D
I think thats what crysis lacked A LOT, it would have impressed the player into the game more, if there were more animals, like if your up on a hill /ridge getting ready to snipe someone out and you hear something behind you, and its monkey or w.e, or even birds too, no chickens....

And you would know that stuff is up when the ever present sound of animals is omniously absent. Atmospheric stuff like that makes a game imo.
Yeah, I hope Farcry 2 has a lot more of this type of stuff than crysis did.
