Windows wont load, it tells me that it can't load the registry or something like that.

I have a back-up of my old registry on my desktop, how can I use that?

I ran regscan/fix but it said that it couldn't be fixed:confused:

I really don't feel like burning 15Gig.:eh?:

I didn't install any programs and it just started giving errors after I hooked up a 20Gig Maxtor and installed 512Mb, restart...more errors...restart.....nothing.

TIA

BTW I don't think its a virus, I just scanned the drive twice.

**EDIT** I'm running WinME

You should be able to just double click on the backup and it will install, then you have to restart.

Boot in DOS and use command scanreg
and you will have the options to go back.
hummm not sure if ME have scanreg command.

It does. "scanreg /restore" to bring up the list of backups.

Thanx for your replies, but nothing worked.

I tried double clicking the Back-up (after I got it to boot in safe mode) but it gave me a strange error.

Ran regedit in DOS...took about an hour to tell me that it couldn't be imported.

I ended up installing ME over the previous install, no data lost:) and only a few changes had to be made (network settings were scrambled).
