Just started reading this review and it spends a great deal of time discussing memory timings.

While it first appears to be a motherboard review, it actually dives into memory timings and selecting the best timings/speed for optimal performance.

Looks real interesting and just thought that I would point it out to you guys.

Welcome your input, especially your real world experiences.

Trying to get my head around it and see how it fits in with these two other articles.

I just read the entire thing and all I have to say is WOW! I knew so little about memory it was almost embarassing. There is just simply amazing information in this article about overclocking memory.

They go into amazing detail about tRD which was previously not adjustable on the majority of motherboards and they emphasize how important it is and how well their overclocks were doing because they were able to adjust this setting.

My only regret is that this option is not available for adjustment on my motherboard :(

I read what I typed above and it is somewhat confusing...his nice work wasn't done on my desktop...to clarify...the link was on my desktop. :)

This is the thread that I was referring to...Performance Level discussion starts with Post #5.

thanks for the heads up on that thread, i kind of forgot about it. if you want to learn about memory, read Kris's articles/reviews that Reefa has linked to. heck read anything he has written, all very informative and well written.

i know a lot about memory but only understand half of it thanks to Kris and am always the first in line to read what he is typing. his P5E3-Deluxe review was also pretty informative if i recall and there is one other review where he went into pretty good depth about a topic but it is slipping my mind right now. bottom line, read what the man publishes if you want to learn/understand more.

I agree 100% on your take of Kris's work...well written stuff.

Some may also want to glance at this article...short, but worthy.

Your work and commentary in the thread that I linked to was also excellent. Very informative stuff and well thought out. Kudos to you.

Bump, everyone should know about tRD and how much of a difference it can play on performance in regards to memory and overall system performance.
