I scratched a trace on the bottom of my Asus P5W DH. I am not able to return it or anything at this point. IT is at the bottom near the CPU..

Here are pics (sorry their blurry, took with my phone)

It is a pretty small area. Basically my computer doesnt post or anything. It starts but nothing happens.

Any suggestions on how to fix something that small. Will it be worth it. Thanks

o wow lol idk how that got there. my bad. I seriously dont know how that got there. I dont think i can edit my thread title that sucks. Thats embarassing lmfao. dont go there lol.

Bleh, G5 case over the TT any day. So long as you use the G5's default wire management more or less, it's a dream to work in.

That looks pretty deep, Hopefully it's only the top layer thats damaged... but it doesn't look like it.

Also just as an FYI, OCForums doesn't condone talking about running OS X on Vanilla PCs since strictly speaking it's illegal. It seems to be ok to say that you're running it, but discussion on how to do it, etc is prohibited ;).

ok im not talking about it. i Just want an opinion on my scratched trace. Im sorry i accidently put that link there while getting the links to my scratched trace.

turns out i could edit it i i "went advanced" my bad.

You need a conductive pen unless you are godlike with the soldering iron ;)

You can get a conductive pen at Radio Shack and try to repair the trace. It might be easier to put some of the conductive stuff on a piece of paer and then use a pin or toothpick to fix the trace, those pens don't always work like they should. You might also be able to find the same thing at an auto parts store - rear window defogger fixers are the same cunductive stuff that works fine.

ok thanks for the replies.. hopefully that trace pen works... its a really small area.. and now that i just F'd my Gigabyte board.. I need to get this one fixed. Or i may just got back to my EVGA

There are trace repair kits available. You don't have to have a NASA soldering certificate to use them (but it helps). I used them as a calibration specialist/metrologist in my other life when repairing test equipment and primary/secondary standards.

Like Moto said, hopefully it's only the surface layer. If the pcb had other metals in the lower layers, and you busted those, you're screwed.
