ok those are the items that i would like to get, and i was looking at the ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX, but i heard it is real buggy. and i was also looking at DFI LP UT P35 T2R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX.
i just dont want to spend that much on a mobo that is crap ya know?
also my spending limit is around 2500

I do video editing and alot of gaming and i want a performance rig. and i will be OCing
so any help will be great
Thank you

If you are planning to run dual 8800's in SLI you cannot get the DFI P35, since Intel chipsets do not allow for SLI mode...only ATI's Crossfire.

That will limit your choices to the Nvidia chipsets. I think they just recently came out with a 780i chipset. Look for them, since they will support the newer 45nm quads (in case you want to upgrade in the future), while the 680i will not.

I am not an expert by any means but everything I have read states the 680i chipset doesn't OC quads very well. So if your dead set on sli you probably won't get the most out of your chip.

yes, get an Intel chipset board and a factory clocked 512MB 8800GTS

i was looking and i think im going to get the EVGA 768-P2-N835-AR GeForce 8800GTX Superclocked 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 its cheaper then two 800GTs

8800GTX is still a very good card, depending on price, i wouldnt pay much more than the price of a G92 8800GTS 512MB, its is an amazing card, beats the GTX in some benches:

The G92 8800GTS benches in somewhere between GTX and Ultra but is able to beat the Ultra in some benches:

In addition, G92 GTS overclocks very well, i would still get a factory overclocked G92 GTS over the GTX unless i needed 768MB RAM for something like a 30" monitor at 2560x1600.

I have the EVGA 680i board. I have 2 8800gts 640mb. I have the q6600 (not g0 steppings) i can easily get to 3.0ghz with thermalright 120 extreme... but im sure if u had g0 steppings you could easily get higher

I like how on SLi motherboards.. if you actually use sli, you cant use any of the pci ports... unless your using a crappy card that is really small.. but if your spending 300 bucks on a SLI board you probablyy are getting the GTX or GTS's. on my 680i sli, i can only use on pci port for my multitude of devices. The only way around this i guess is watercooling.. or those cool skinning cards.

what dose the EPP 1.0 mean on the XFX MB-N780-ISH9 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI Intel Motherboard where its says "Memory Standard DDR2 800 (up to DDR2 1200 with EPP 1.0)" so it will run DDR 1200 but what is EPP 1.0?

and alos this board is good for OCing? and whats the 780i mean?
thanks

also would it be fast to run the DDR 800 in 4 gigs and oc it, or get 2 gigs of DDR1200?

will it keep up or even out the the ultra if i run it in two in SLI?

EPP = Enhanced Performance Profiles

Memory goes by a JEDEC standard which they set... EPP is just a way to make sure ram is more 'compatible' with motherboards.

Your memory will have the JEDEC standards and the EPP standars.

The 780i is the chip set and It should oc well from what Ive herd, and dont youse all of the memory slots when ocing youse 2 and get a 2x2 4gig kit o ram.
