Since I bought my new game rig I've been wanting to get a new game. Thing is I don't know what I want. I've got a few friends that play CoD4 and love it, but I've heard some good things about TF2. What I'm looking for is a multiplayer game that has a lot of replay value. I've never played the original Team Fortress because I didn't acutally get into PC gaming until about 2 years ago.

Also if there's another new game that has a lot of multiplayer replay value, feel free to mention it.

Reference this thread for a decent debate between CoD4 and the Orange Box:

http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=545050

If you have played any of the HL2 based games I'd go for CoD4.

If you are looking for the best way to push your system to the limits get CoD4.

If neither of the above apply, get the Orange Box and be entertained for a long time.

I'm actually bored of TF2 right now so I'm going back to COD4 and using a different playing strategy using a sniper/p90 combo rather than just running around and owning everyone with the p90. I would be #1 in kills usually but also I would have a lot of deaths so now I'm playing more stragetic and playing domination more than team DM. Its pretty fun!

TF was getting boring for me also, but I realized it wasn't the game so much as the 6 regular maps, so I moved to a different server with custom maps, and some are quite good!

To be honest with you unless you are really into teamwork and have a group of friends to play with...TF2 gets kinda boring quick, at least for me. Anyways I really enjoy COD4 even though its relatively easy to play. Right now I have gotten back into Battlefield 2142. If you want to try that...the price is nice and low since COD4 came out, and the graphics still rock on 2142 :)

multiplayer game...well I play UT3. but I play alot of other games but since it sounds like you're leaning on fps's, I'm gonna say UT 3

UT3 is MEH... seems to lack character...

This is why some people stick to the BF games....because CoD4 does little to promote teamwork at all.

That is true, I wish COD4 had
#1. Bigger maps and #2. #1

Domination kind of has team work, usually I'll project a point and just snipe anyone who trys to capture the point.
But very little people even use the voice chat.

I'd probably get OB over CoD4, but I've been getting bored of TF2. I was hooked on TF2 for a month or so after I got it, started getting sick of the lack of official maps (I'm not a big fan of customs for any game, but TF2 it's kind of necessary after a bit, only 6 official maps), then I got CoD4 for 360. It's a great game on MP but I haven't really gotten into it too much. Might just be XBL and its hugely laggy servers. The SP on CoD4 is amazing as well, one of the best SP games I've played in a while. But the OB has ALL of the HL2 games, which just can't be beat.

Both have their strengths and weaknesses, I like COD4 more, my brother likes TF2 more. They are both good games.

+1 for cod4
it has a good, but short, single player campaign if you ever get tired of mp too.

I am playing them both these days and TF2 is the far superior game in my opinion.

Tf2 is ok its just cod 4 is better to me.

Why is everyone calling the CoD4 campaign short? It wasn't long, but it took me a hell of a lot of time. Maybe because I played through the game on Veteran on my first shot :D

i got both and ringer for both have been playing cod4 as ppl want to scrim all the time on it but if you come to cod4 from bf2 there is a hit reg learning curve you get away with so much more in cod4 lot of spray and pray kills wish there was a revive feature like bf2 that would make the cal and twl games better.
So any way look for deals on both i got tf2 on black friday price matching at walmart for 25 and got cod4 from gogamer for 25 but shipping took for ever

you could also.. "test" each game *wink wink* by.. "procuring" *wink wink* them from the web and testing out the single player.. see which one you like.. then go buy the correct one to allow you multiplayer.

well you can't really download TF2 considering its source, but yes CoD4 you could give it a test run before you purchase.

I never finished CoD4s Single player, but I haven't finished any games single player in about 7 years.

I'd go with CoD4. The single player is great (short but a lot of fun). The multiplayer is even better. Its definitely my favorite game since CoD2 came out. CoD4 will also push your rig to the limit which is something I always love to do when I build a new rig.

Team Fortress 2, or save your money for when Frontlines: Fuel of War is released.
Frontlines is by far superior then CoD4 in fun.

COD4 has no vehicles, singleplayer sucked (as with all COD really, too linear)

TF2 is fun because i liked the original TF

Frontline Fuel of War, iv played the BETA, it looks really fun, but for some reason, I got bored real quick without having a clue why

If it were up to me, I would buy Orange Box

I know, I hate that about CoD, you can only do what they need you to do, in the end...

First Person Shooters are always linear! Some are just less linear than others.

Looks prettty cool when is it coming out?
Soon or like starcraft 2 time span? :P

I'm surprised no one is going to try and dethrone the BF series. It's made 64 player games, large maps, multiple kits, vehicles, aircraft, stat tracking, squad/chain of command, VOIP play all at once...a really high standard for a lot of gamers.

What was the closest attempt? ARMA? pffff

I think I read February 26th, or atleast that is what Bestbuy has it slated for. But there are beta key codes out there, not sure for how long, but if you can grab one you can start now.

I got mine last night and ended up playing until four in the morning. The Drone role is extremely fun. Basically, you start off with a exploding RC helicopter, which I found does wonders when sneaking behind an enemy sniper pearched on one of the many tall structures.

Then you get an Assault Drone, which is mounted with a turret and you can drive it around and shoot at enemies running around or catch them trying to hide behind corners. It's not super strong against cars and tanks, but sometimes you can get it hidden next to one in their blindspot and they're too dumb to move around.

Last one is a Mortar Drone, which is like the second but it's equipped with four launchers that spit out and explode on impact. If you're good at angling shots, this is really good at killing soldiers. I've pearched one on top of a roof before to watch a point and let one loose when ever someone stepped in range. Probably my favorite role so far, especially conjunctioned with a sniper or anti-vehicle loadout.
